FFXIV Released Sept. 30, 2010 for PC, March 2011 for PS3

Final Fantasy XIV will be released September 30 for the PC this year for $50, or you can get the Collector's Edition for $75 and get access to the game eight days early. According to RPGamer, the Playstation 3 copy won't be released until March 2011.

In the Collector's Edition, you will also get these extras:

  • Behind the scenes DVD with the obligatory documentary on the making of the game.
  • A travel journal with concept art pages in which players can document their in-game wanderings.
  • An in-game item called the "Onion Helm." (will increase recovery rates)
  • A fully personalized "Right of Passage" certificate.
  • Special cover illustrated by artist Yoshitaka Amano.
  • A FFXIV-branded security token for use with regular password.

Standard edition pre-orders will get Garland Goggles, which increase the rate of character skill progression. All characters created will get these items. Both versions of FFXIV will give the player 30 days of free playtime.

The monthly rate will be pretty much the same from FFXI, going for $12.99. Each additional character will be a little more this time around, going for $3 and upto 8 playable characters. Official mules, called "retainers" will be $1 and you will receive one by default. It will be a non-playable character that maintains item sales and storage when users are logged out.

Amazon has both Standard and Collector's edition available for pre-order.
