A Disciple to Call Your Own

"Every soul must needs have a code, a purpose, to guide them. Else chaos would consume us all.
- from The Determination of Being, Guillauramand de Padellaint

In general, there is a fourfold classification of adventures based on the disciplinary paths to which they devote themselves:

Players may opt to specialize in one discipline, excelling in a single skill, or they may take a more general approach, making free use of the Armoury. The choice is yours.[1]

Overview

In Final Fantasy XIV, characters will be able to level up multiple Disciplines and switch between them with the press of a button.

The most recent Discipline information involves two Magic Disciplines, Conjurer and Thaumaturge, and the Hand Discipline of Blacksmithing. Conjurers are fairly traditional magic users, using elemental damage spells as well as healing and protective spells. Thaumaturges use more subtle spells that enhance allies and cripple enemies, though the Discipline's description also promises a great deal of destructive power. Blacksmiths, as can be expected, craft metal tools and weapons.
